The same raw-material flow data, drawn as band width: the left column is the origin country, the right column the destination, and (with "Category column" on) the middle column is which resource category (energy, minerals...) it passes through - band thickness is the size of the flow. Switching to "Bilateral pairs" drops the middle column and connects country pairs directly (e.g. a single thick "Saudi Arabia → China" band, not flattened into a category).
